Introduction

BS Sociology program at the University of Jhang aims to enable the newcomers (taking the discipline of sociology as their field of specialization) to understand the foundations of the discipline along with practical work containing seminars, workshops, trainings, internship programs and other soft skills. Ultimately they would be able to understand the mechanisms of social system and process.

Duration of the Program:

BS Sociology is 4 years program.

Degree Requirement:

As per HEC rule, for the completion of BS Sociology degree minimum 130 credit hours are required.

Medium of Instruction and Examination:

Medium of instruction for BS Sociology will be English.

Assessment and Evaluation:

Assessment criteria will be followed by the rules and regulations of University of Jhang.

Program Outcomes:

After completing the degree, the students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate competent knowledge of core sociological theories and schools of thought.
  • Identify the causes and consequences of human behavior.
  • Understand the development of social thoughts and theories in different phases of social evolution.
  • Expand their knowledge of the mechanics of society and its diversity.

Program Objectives

The following are the objectives of the program:

  • To provide a lens through which learners can experience social and historical context of social process.
  • To develop an understanding of basics, theories of the discipline of sociology and other related fields.
  • To develop the ability in student to select, justify and execute research methods appropriate to central research questions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Candidates with at least 45% marks in Intermediate or equivalent examinations are eligible to apply for admission in the program of BS Sociology.
  • Further Merit and Eligibility Criteria for admission will be followed by University of Jhang Admission Policy.
